The Kings go into tonight’s game as winners, which is something we haven’t gotten to say in a while.

Blind Pilot — Just One

Despite the win, the Kings still only managed to tally one goal. In the auditory representation of the Kings’ scoring luck recently, there were 4 clangs off the post, including an almost empty netter from the lone scorer, Anze Kopitar. But at least the Kings scoreless streak ended last night. Take that Hertl curse!

Be that as it may, this kind of speaks for itself. We’ve joked about it before, but if you want your untested, rookie goalie to have a great game, just stick them in front of the Los Angeles Kings, and they’ll make them look oh so good.

Drake — Hold On, We’re Coming Home

These last few weeks really haven’t been so hot, and not helping that has been the fact that the Kings have been on the road the whole time. Tonight is their last night out until they head back to the Staples Center for a fairly difficult homestand leading into the Olympic Break.

Last time the Kings were in Arizona, it was a frustrating loss with, you guessed it, only a single goal scored. The Kings are an unimpressive 14–11–3 on the road, but a better 16–7–3 at home, so hopefully the Kings can nab another win tonight and ride it to their games at home. Hopefully.

Hope-for-the-best

Matt & Kim — Not That Bad

We’ve lamented about how terrible the Kings have been as of late, but the Coyotes have been worse. So they’ve got that going for them. Quick has been solid and acrobatic since his return, the defense has been strong, the forwards have had scoring chances, so while it’s not as great as we all know it can be, it’s not the worst. Though Toffoli was mostly silent in last night’s game, hopefully with more time on the ice, he can get the bottom six offense going and turn the Kings from Not That Bad to at least Good. I’m trying this new thing called optimism here. We’ll see if it sticks.
