After the Kings’ dominant game yesterday, you’re either feeling on top of the world or abject fear that this will all come crashing down. There’s no denying that the Kings are doing well though, on a 4 game win streak and shutting down teams left, right and center.

Nelly — Hot in Herre

The Kings are 6–1–3 in their last 10, and haven’t allowed more than 2 goals since November 2. They certainly haven’t been giving up goals in the first period during this time either. The Kings continue to command a strong possession game, playing keep away with their opponents in ways that delight me.

They go into this back-to-back against a Leafs team that hasn’t been doing so hot and who won’t have their captain and top minutes guy due to a suspension.

Yeah, probably not a great spot to have empty.

She & Him — Black Hole

Gunnarson’s going to have to go it alone against Drew Doughty, I guess.

There’s going to be a bit of an old friends and new foes thing going down at the ACC. The Kings face their old babe backup goalie, Jonathan Bernier tonight in net for the first time.

No Doubt — Ex-Girlfriend

Scrivens and Frattin were the pieces that were traded for Bernier earlier this year, but forget about that narrative because it looks like they’ll be sitting out against their former team. That’s fine, they can just heckle violently from the stands. And they can heckle with good reason. Even the Leafs’ own Joffrey Lupul, who should return to the lineup tonight, isn’t terribly optimistic.

Wolf Gang — The King and All His Men

Honestly, in a rare bit of optimism, the Kings have played fantastically as a team as of late. Things just seem to be clicking, whether it’s clean passes, controlled zone entries, great defensive play, and now, they’re getting acquainted with some goal-scoring. It’s Day 2 of a back-to-back, but after the high of last night’s win, here’s hoping that it isn’t a problem. For all intents and purposes, they should win. They better win. Please don’t force us all to watch the Kings lose in HD as the Leafs record 24/7. Also, it’s Canada. If not for yourselves Kings, do it for America.
