Kings at Bruins: Quick Was Good, Rask Was Better

One day the LA Kings will win two games in a row again, just not today.

There isn’t a whole lot to say about this match-up. It was a hard-hitting game but surprisingly fast-paced for long stretches. Both teams played about even in the first period. The Boston Bruins held the edge in possession in the second period but the Kings had more even strength scoring chances. That didn’t matter, though, because it was Boston who finally scored first.

In the third period, the Kings tied it up thanks to Jordan Nolan’s second goal of the season.

He had no business scoring from outside the circle like that. Oh well. It counted.

The Kings enjoyed that tie for a minute and a half. Chris Kelly’s deflection regained the Bruins’ lead. Brad Marchand’s empty-netter and second of the game secured the win for the home team. Kings lost 3–1.

Jonathan Quick was a salty about it, but even his huffing and puffing on the way to the locker room didn’t live up to some of his more epic tantrums.

The LA Kings are now 1–1–0 in the post-Mike Richards era. They’re still only a few points of out the top three in the Pacific Division, but another road loss in a season of unfortunate road outcomes doesn’t inspire too much confidence for the next few games. Hopefully something changes.
