Kings love the unconventional road to game 7 don’t they? After losing three straight (again), the Kings stave off elimination (again) to force a game 7. I should really stop being surprised by any of this.

The Kings played a very strong first period with most of the action taking place in the Ducks zone. That aggression paid off when Kopitar was able to backhand the puck to a wide open Muzzin who buries it in the back of the net.

Muzzin’s goal face is almost at Dwight King level of intensity.

It was a joke before, but It’s no joke now, Trevor Lewis really is the Gibson killer. Lewis takes possession of the puck with Bryan Allen defending (lol Bryan Allen), and shoots it at Gibson who lets in a softie to give the Kings a 2–0 lead. Who’s got Taylor Swift stuck in their heads?

There’s something oh, so satisfying about that slow trickle into the net.

Palmieri brought the Ducks to within one not too long later in an unexpected way. Jonathan Quick is tops when it comes to going post-to-post, so wraparounds don’t usually get past him, except this time, one did. The Ducks fought to get that tying goal with a flurry of chances at the end of the third, but Quick came up big and didn’t let a single puck past him.

It’s happening again, another game 7 on the road, and I continue to chug that optimism kool-aid. Mike Richards, Justin Williams and Marian Gaborik are 5–0 in games 7, so let’s keep that score perfect shall we?
