All Hail Metallica!
From May to November, the heavy metal gods embark on their ‘WorldWired’ Tour.
Get this. A 16-year-old Dane by the name of Lars Ulrich moves to Los Angeles, chasing dreams of becoming a pro tennis player. He picks up the drums (thanks to a gift from his grandmother) and is soon posting ads in local newspapers, in search of musicians to jam with.
Fast forward three decades and vocalist James Hetfield B (one of the first to answer the advert) still runs vocals, with the lineup rounded out with Kirk Hammett (lead guitarist) and Robert Trujillo (bassist).
You wouldn’t call me a die-hard heavy metal fan, but I can honestly say I’ve heard ‘Nothing Else Matters’ in bars on at least 4 different continents (one being a remote coastal town in Ecuador). Point of the story, Metallica is adored the world over!
Speaking of continents, the band will visit Europe and Oceania on their WorldWired Tour with a staggering 35 shows (probably a drop in the ocean for these rockers).
It’s mind-boggling to think these rock legends have been touring steadily since the 1980s. 39 years on…and they’re packing their road cases once more. In that time, they’ve travelled to the stratosphere and back with 9 Grammy awards, their previous 6 albums debuting at №1 on Billboard, having sold more than 125 million albums.
As if their 10th album, Hardwired… to Self-Destruct wasn’t enough. Just recently, Trujillo spilt the beans on album number 11, one he said: “we’ll see a lot sooner than the last two”.
I feel like Metallica faithful would die for their band. I wouldn’t stop a bullet for Lars Ulrich but I’d still love to see him and his cronies thrash around on stage! Take a look at the plethora of dates on offer below:
