How to Build Great Teams — Part 2/5

This isn’t just about you.

Building a great team means looking beyond your individuality.

Knowing the strengths your team has both as individuals and together, will give your team direction and purpose. It will also reduce training time, internal conflicts and staff turnover rates.

Focusing on strengths fosters confidence.

When people do what they do well, it builds them up. Their confidence becomes your confidence and the team’s confidence. A confident team is a stronger team.

Focusing on strengths promotes loyalty.

Anyone who enjoys doing what they do is likely to continue doing it for longer. Enable your team members to have the freedom to do what they do best — creating limitless potential for what you and your team can achieve.

Focusing on strengths creates a natural division of labour.

Don’t limit people’s roles to a traditional description on paper. Create roles within your team that are built around the individual person’s strengths.

Focusing on strengths will help overcome any challenge.

Teams face challenges every day. Know your team’s individual strengths and then use them. In doing so, any conflict you come across will be significantly minimised because your team has the capacity (and confidence and loyalty) to overcome it.

Focusing on strengths results in greatness.

Any great team is built on individual strengths. It is in those individual strengths that your team will be enabled to achieve more of your goals quicker. Your team’s unique strengths are what unites you together and keeps you from falling apart. It will be what separates your team from all the others.

Know your strengths and then use them.
