Woefully I recently heard yet another sad story from somebody who came on to a committee. They had the right intentions, they have the right values but the starting point they were given meant they were already scarred before even starting the role.

Getting a great handover can often mean the different between continuing on the good work of those before you, or feeling very frustrated, bumbling around trying to figure out just how the previous generation managed to do things.

Don’t do a last minute handover. For the good of the organisation try ‘First-minute’ planning which is a process of both continual conversations amongst others on the committee, transparent record keeping and smarter assigning of Tasks. This will help define the culture of your organisation and lift the entire committee to operate at a smarter level and help develop the next generation of talent and leadership.

Using a tool like Tidy is obvioulsy going to get you a long way towards this environment, with built in governance, transparency, record keeping, data storage and one of the most simple but powerful tools for a great handover — Tasks.

You can assign Tasks to a Role, not just an individual meaning regardless who happens to be in various administrative roles they will know exactly what needs to happen and give them a great head start to growing on the legacy left for them.

Get on the front foot with assigning Tasks to Roles.
