Medium: I’m Sticking Around
And thanks for the forum
My feed has more than a few articles about people being disappointed with the big drop in MPP earnings. People are leaving or threatening to leave.
I’ve been on Medium for six years. I have not been able to raise myself above the status of “bottom writer.” You see, I have an unusual topic. I want the world to build a better democracy. Rightly or wrongly, Medium readers are not that interested in Tiered Democratic Governance (TDG).
For two years, I had been chugging along with two articles a week. I would often take a somewhat current political headline or thought — and dovetail that lead into teaching about the TDG. I averaged about $1.50 in MPP earnings with this strategy.
On November 5, 2024, the United States elected Donald Trump as its president. “Now,” I thought, “Medium readers will finally be interested in my new democracy.” So I started writing daily articles that were shorter and directly teaching about the TDG. No dovetailing.
“The result?” you ask
Well, I had 20 to 50 views per article with the old way. The new way has gone down to 3 to 15 views. A drastic drop. As well, my MPP went down to $0.25. This is not Medium’s fault. I changed the strategy, and that strategy is seemingly not working.
