For The Beginners, Part Two.
Strong passion, determination with honesty to yourself and to others are the most important points for a startup owner. If you are not honest with yourself you cannot be turntable for anybody.
Here we can imagine a story, just for an example. You and one of your friends start a cafe at the same time in a different location. Both of you are similar experts passionate about the business. After a few months later you meet each other and share your positions. You are surprised to hear about your friend’s success in a short period. He is so busy after starting his cafe, that he doesn’t have even a time for small vacation. On the other hand, your cafe almost failed. Very less customers or sales and even your team is almost sitting ideal of all the day.
Find out the points and troubleshooting is a regular job for a company owner. List out the difference between you and your friend’s Cafe. Check one by one very seriously. You might find a few significant points are noticeable.
His cafe is located in a very famous tourist spot, Well populated area. Your one may not be in the same important location. Maybe at the residential area or a tiny downtown. So, another important point is the location. You have to understand the product you are selling to whom. Who is your main customer?
You are in a tiny town or near a residential area where most people spend their time not in the cafe but at home.
Here sometimes I think that luck is also very important for us. Moreover, I thought 60% was luck, 20% was your efficiency and the rest 20% was your employee’s performance. Later on, I realized that, if you are a strong-minded hard worker and passionate in your work, you can change your luck. You will make favor your luck to you. It is a kind of hypothetic or philosophic.
Coming back to the cafe story again. Now what is the way you will troubleshoot this problem? You already invested a lot in establishing this cafe. It’s not easy for you in the startup position to change your cafe location same as your friend does.
If I were in your position, I might study the area, the people living there, and their needs. Your Cafe may be small but space between the space you have to create add or increase a few other products according to the area living people’s demand. It will be a grocery and Cafe, vegetable shop and Cafe, or maybe another thing that is needed by the demand. But your main café also needs to be highlighted as a brand. End of the day your target is to establish a café brand in the town.
Now you observe a few more days. If things change, you will start earning money to cover the losses and try to open another Cafe in the busy tourist areas as you are experiencing by then.
It is not rocket science. You have to concentrate, study, and see the future in your inner eyes. Easy ..you can go on.“you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”
