Time Capsule
A Poem by Hans Cheetham
In a dream I had within a dream
Appearances are not all it seems
In tattered clothes, walking with flow
I ran across a time capsule
The wonders I had to grapple
I did not know what to do
What a bloody fool!
There was no guide or manual
And with no instruction on what to do
I jumped inside the time capsule
Lord, I got so full
So heavy and gray
What can I say?
It took a decade off my good health
Terrible is how I felt
In the mirror
I saw the reflection of my youth
A slender figure
My split and chipped tooth
I did not know the consequence
Lord, I must repent
From the past I was sent
When I saw my future self
I had a feeling I’ve never felt
I crumbled into ash
That scattered to the wind
What spell had been cast?
And in my last moment
I saw what was given
And what was taken
In my final vision
A moment of revelation…
