Why Too Much Motivation Is A Success Killer

It’s been about 2 years since I started reading on Medium. Articles in my feed vary from culture to poetry to entrepreneurship.

The ones that always seem the most tempting to read are related to success, entrepreneurship and how to achieve.

I Read A Lot Of Articles Everyday

Lately I have been reading a lot of motivating articles on Medium. I find the advices in articles very practical and must implement in my life kind of. These articles have helped me a lot and I have drastically improved my life in the last year.

I have not been using Facebook more than 1 hours/week for last 1 year. But now I’m spending 2–3 hours reading motivating and articles about self improvement and about how successful people do it. Although, all these articles really inspire me. I’m now feeling that

When I’m not working, I’m reading Medium. When I’m in toilet, I’m reading Medium. When I don’t want to waste even a second of my day, I’m still fucking reading Medium.

Motivation Overdose

I think that I’m getting a motivation overdose these days and I need to limit the number of articles I read everyday on Medium or fixed the number of hours I spend here.

I have realized that reading all these motivation articles is actually hurting my progress more than it is actually taking me towards it.

Authors and their tones change. Their words, fields and stories change. But essentially everyone is trying to say more or less the same thing and I have already read it a 1000 times and understood it well. Now is the time to implement.

The way I’m spending my time on Medium, it seems like this is my new Facebook. This is the new place where I’ve been wasting many hours of my day reading the stuff that keeps repeating itself.

Call To Action

I’m going to

Read a maximum of 5 articles everyday from tomorrow

and spend more time on the project that’s been waiting for quite a long time now. I have already crossed my 5 articles limit for today, so I’ll close the tab now.
