Designer fetish

Have you installed Craft by InVision LABS already?LABS.INVISIONAPP.COMCraft is a plugin suite for Sketch and Photoshop that lets you design with real data in mind. Best of all, they integrate directly into both Photoshop and Sketch via a panel interface. Handy.

FRESH brand works you should keep an eye on: BP&OBPANDO.ORGLogo, brand identity, packaging and graphic design blog with daily design inspiration and reviews (like the wine box by Toko, above) from freelance designer & curator Richard Baird.

Digital Products

2017 • Dual camera phones are coming! Introducing a new era for mobile photo.9TO5MAC.COMSony Corporation’s CFO here discusses the future of dual-camera systems. This time for real! Imagine: depth of focus, on a phone! (among other amazing possibilities). It reminds me of…

Light Camera (which comes out this year).LIGHT.COMeet the world’s first multi-aperture computational camera. I have no idea what that means BUT it sounds impressive. And the Light L16 Camera uses 16 lenses! The 16 images are then ‘computationally fused’ to create an incredible high-quality final image with up to 52 megapixel resolution. Look at this slick piece of hardware…

Meanwhile… Héctor “Kirai” García, a Spaniard blogger living in Japan is loving his new Ricoh Theta, which takes interactive 360 images. Click the image to give it a try:

Ricoh Theta images can be uploaded straight into Google Street View, meaning we can do Google’s work for free, YAY! …But it’s cool if you want to showcase your business or studio space.

Speaking of studios, we had the team from Fabulous Beasts visit ustwo recently and it was really nice to see the 3D printed prototype of their physical/digital game (you can back it on Kickstarter until the 25th of this month). It’s a fun idea with lovely visual execution.

Sounds that keep us pixelating

I fell in love with Sakamoto’s music when I saw him and alva noto (yes, lower-case) play in my hometown in 2006.Check their albums if you haven’t yet — intense, emotional and very deep, perfect for focusing while designing. And the live performance of the album Insen is amazing to watch, great visuals in an ultra-panoramic screen. If you’ve seen The Revenant (and if not, you should), you’ll understand the big deal about their music. If not, start here >

If you’re not so keen on the intense sounds of the duo above, then try these 80’s synth boogies — they will definitely spice up your Monday.
