Focus. A headspace that is becoming impossible to maintain as every app in our daily lives competes for our attention. In particular, the digital space is designed to constantly remind you of its presence. Social apps entice you into endless engagement, work applications intrude with another deadline on your next waking moment, delivery apps prompt you with 15% off your next order. All of these apps provide real value, however they are not aligned and compete with each other for the greatest share of your attention.
The idea behind Timeless stemmed from a team driven to fix this problem. Everything in the design is geared toward drowning out the noise. The design choices behind the UI were made in service to this goal. No more Tetris board that screams at you the endless tasks you have to complete before day’s end. Each event on your daily feed takes up most of your screen, enables intuitive quick actions and serves as a display for Timeless art. An aesthetically appealing calendar goes a long way to decreasing anxiety and the noise that arises out of a calendar that looks like a spreadsheet. This is what the Timeless of today delivers.
When we thought about the mission of Timeless, we first looked at what the calendars of today offer. It felt like most calendars we used functioned as a dressed up note taking app; you list events out in your calendar, and reference that calendar throughout the day to remind you about the next task that requires your time. There are certain value-adds that have been implemented by popular calendar applications that augment this daily list of to-dos, such as sharing calendar events and other productivity hacks. However the real value-add in this space will come from a calendar that will complete tasks for you, as opposed to simply a glorified reminder feed. Timeless is being built to tackle this problem.
Users of Timeless already receive this benefit in small ways, such as the integration with Zoom, which generates a link that can be shared between all members with one click. Several intermediary value-adds like this will be shipped as part of our launch and growth of curated event feed, which will enable you to discover, share, and transact with events and services. Once the marketplace functionality and the in-app payment rails are established, we will be able to evolve into a calendar that works for you.
