The moment we are born, we start growing our Tree of Life. Each one of us try to nourish it with the best possible manner and then, in return, expect the sweetest fruits of happiness from it in the form of Health, Wealth, Happiness, Love, etc.

Although, each one of us has the same above mentioned objective and each one of us put the best efforts to accomplish the same. But the harsh reality is that only a small percentage of humans among us actually succeed in growing up the intended Tree of Life. The rest of us remain disappointed in this endeavour. Surprisingly, for some of us, The Tree of Life actually produces the bitter fruits of unhappiness instead of the expected sweet ones.

So one fine day, after seeing the above mentioned harsh reality of life, I put forth this most important question to my inner-self — Is there any particular way to grow the Tree of Life which guarantees to bear the sweetest fruits of Happiness?

Here is the answer I got - “YES, OF COURSE. MOREOVER THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY FOR ALL HUMANS!”.

But let me be honest and truthful. This pathway is a bit longer as compared to other short-cuts available around and hence it demands some patience and perseverance too. Unfortunately, there is no short-cut approach available for creating a happier and fulfilling life. If not convinced yet, you can try the short-cuts for yourself. But I have seen that in reality, all the shortcuts lead to disappointment sooner or later. The short-cuts just lure, misguide and finally lead us to an Illusion of Happiness than true everlasting Happiness.

Now unveiling the steps to grow the above-promised Tree of Life.

First let us understand the process of growing a biological tree.

As you might already know, the growth of a tree begins from the seed. Then we water the seed and place it in sunlight. Then, water and sunlight start its growth. Next, the roots start to grow and gain strength so that I can withstand the devastating winds and floods.

Now, let's co-relate the elements of biological Tree with a human being’s Tree of Life.

Seeds = Intentions

As you probably already know that a seed is the starting point of the growth of a Biological Tree. Also, it is the inherent characteristics of the seed that defines whether the final tree is going to produce fruits of Mango, Apple or Bitter Melon.

Similarly, in our real life too, if we start peeling out the various layers of our mind. Then, at the core lie the intentions. These intentions act as the seeds of our Tree of Life. Believe it or not, our life is majorly a manifestation of our own intentions.

For example,

  • Some of us keep the intentions of becoming wealthy.
  • Some of us keep the intentions of becoming healthy.
  • Some of us keep intentions of becoming a superstar.

Similarly,

  • Some of us keep the intentions of ruling others.
  • Some of us keep intentions of looting others.
  • Some of us keep intentions of cheating others.

So, it is imperative for all of us to watch our intentions. As one cannot expect a fruit of Mango while sowing the seeds of Cactus. Similarly, one cannot experience happiness while keeping the evil intentions of causing unhappiness to others.

Water = Actions

As seed itself is helpless to grow until it is watered. Similarly, the intention itself is helpless until it is backed by the corresponding action. In reality, when the intention meets the corresponding action, then only it starts to manifests in the real life.

For example,

  • If someone has the intention of becoming wealthy, then the action of generating higher income through the job or business makes it a reality.
  • If someone has the intention of becoming healthy, then the action of doing exercise and improving the diet makes it a reality.
  • If someone has the intention of becoming knowledgeable, then the action of learning makes it a reality.
  • If someone has the intention of becoming a writer, then the action of practising writing makes it a reality.

Many of us expect the results just from intentions without putting the effort in the form of corresponding actions. For some of us, we are ready to perform actions, but the actions are not sufficiently disciplined. We do the action one day and then postpone it for a day, week, month or so. Honestly, in this manner, the intention cannot manifest and hence cannot become a reality. It only remains a distant dream but cannot turn into “Dream come True”. Hence, it is imperative to put the required water of action in order to grow the seed of intention.

Sunlight = Knowledge

As seed thrives on sunlight to grow. Similarly, the intention and action thrive on Knowledge. Knowledge is the light which enlightens us as humans and gives us its verdict — whether the intention and corresponding action are righteous or not. Actually, Knowledge acts as a guiding force and it directs us towards the rightful manner of Living.

For example,

The knowledge says, “Every action has a corresponding reaction. So whatever you do to others, shall come back to you either directly or indirectly”.

The knowledge says, “We should dispel the hatred and embrace the love. Because Love attracts and hatred repels”.

The knowledge says, “Sincere hard work is the most reliable pathway to Success”.

Knowledge says, “Don’t forget that you are mortal. Your time is precious and limited. Use it wisely”.

Those who listen to the verdict of knowledge and then align their actions accordingly, finally reach the true happiness. Others who refuse to listen to the verdict of knowledge gets tricked and in reality gets ditched in a deep pit of misery.

Roots = Virtues

As a tree sometimes have to face the attacks of devastating winds and floods, similarly we have to face the ups and downs in life. As the winds and floods are short-lived and eventually go away, similarly, the hard times in our lives are short-lived and eventually go away. As only that tree whose roots are stronger can survive the attacks of winds and floods. Similarly, that person whose virtues are stronger can survive the attacks of hardships.

Few of the most significant virtues which creates an unshakeable person are Truthfulness, Dignity, Honesty, Commitment, Enthusiasm, Perseverance and Sincerity.

For example,

If a person has the virtue of Commitment, then that person will fulfil his responsibilities without getting affected by emotions.

If a person has the virtue of Perseverance, then that person remains committed to his efforts irrespective of failures on the way towards growth.

If a person has the virtue of Dignity, then the person does not sacrifice self-respect at any cost.

If a person has the virtue of Honesty and Truthfulness, then the person does not choose the wrong means to outgrow others.

If a person has the virtue of Enthusiasm, then the person perceives even the challenges as the opportunities to learn.

As the roots of a tree should be firm in the ground. Similarly, a person should be unshakeable in his virtues. Then the ups and downs in life cannot do any harm. The harsh reality is that only those who have unshakeable ethics, principles, and traits actually survive the deadly attacks in life.

To summarize, following are the four rules to grow “The Sweetest Tree of Life” .

  • Keep the noble intentions of love, positivity and betterment of mankind.
  • Perform the corresponding sincere actions to turn intentions into reality.
  • Gain knowledge to align the intentions and knowledge in the right direction.
  • Do not sacrifice the virtues of truthfulness, dedication, commitment and enthusiasm at any point in Life.
