Time Raiders Breakdown: What Makes It Top-Tier (And Down To Rival The Likes Of Axie Infinity)

Axie Infinity is ruling the play-to-earn market with an iron fist. But is it up for the major challenge Time Raiders is set to put forward? Read this short piece to learn how this new promising game sizes up against the P2E goliath.

If you’ve had the chance to stumble on the concept of play-to-earn games and their big upside for the future — you probably heard the name ‘Axie Infinity’ thrown around a couple times.

And well, deservedly so.

Just 4 years shy from its launch, Axie Infinity didn’t take long to establish itself as a major powerhouse in play-to-earn (P2E) gaming — with a total of $1.3 billion of revenue, and $4 billion in transactional volume over the course of the last year.

Actually, as we’re writing this piece, Axie Infinity tops Google’s most-searched NFTs…

Although impressive, these numbers do not paint the whole picture.

Inspired on a fresh, ‘Pokemon meets Hearthstone’ style of gameplay,

Axie Infinity allows players to breed, raise, battle, and trade creatures called Axies, which are NFTs you can flip for a profit right away.

A fresh new concept that had never been tried in the game industry before.

And it’s safe to say, it worked.

Axie has gone on to become a great earning opportunity for gamers in poverty-struck countries like the Philippines, Venezuela, and Indonesia. Even when players need to place a significant chunk of money upfront to get started — $600 to purchase 3 characters at $200 a piece (which is the bare minimum to get started…)

The potential to rake in thousands of dollars per month living off Axie’s native crypto assets has made the risk all the more worthwhile.

And well… the rest remains to be written.

But as of today, the resounding success of this game has paved the way for multiple P2E titles that have come to the scene ever since.

One of which is Time Raiders: a new open world, shoot and loot NFT game that’s cut out to give P2E games like Axie Infinity, a run for its money.

Let’s give you a quick rundown of 3 key areas in which Time Raiders sizes up against Axie Infinity.

There’s a bit of ground to cover — so let’s begin.

#1. Entry Level/Pricing

Axie Infinity Time Raiders

High — $600 ($200 per character) Low — F2P

Hands down, one of the biggest barriers that’s preventing countless players from jumping on the Axie Infinity bandwagon is their high entry level price.

In a nutshell, Axie Infinity gives players the chance to buy, breed and pit monsters, called Axies, against one another. This in turn, allows players to win in-game currency that can be later flipped for real cold hard cash.

But, there’s fine print in the contract. In order to fully join this elite club of brawlers, you must, quite literally, pay the price first. Also known as, having at least three of these creatures under your name.

Now, this can vary from Axie to Axie. But on its cheapest days, one single creature can sell for at least $200. Which quite frankly, is just a ballpark. The most expensive monster sold for 300 ether in 2020 ($130,000 in fiat currency at the time!)

But hypothetically, let’s say you’re just looking to get your feet wet. Even then, $200 is a hefty price tag to pay for the average gamer (especially considering nearly 40% of Axie Infinity’s audience comes from the Philippines — a third world country.) This might put a damper on many players’ hopes to explore the concept of P2E for the first time.

Because even with Axie’s recent in-game scholarship’ model — in which Axie owners can rent their NFTs to new players seeking to get a headstart without putting dollars upfront… it’s still safe to say: Axie Infinity is out of reach for the everyday gamer.

Now, with Time Raiders, on the other hand… the pricing model is a lot more familiar to what you might expect.

Our experienced game production team, with over 30 seasoned developers working day in and day out, has put in the hours to create a game that mimics the player’s usual experience as much as possible.

And this of course, includes the pricing model.

From its launch, Time Raiders will be free-to-play, and not harder to access than downloading Fortnite on a PS4 — at least for the moment.

Now, this might change as the game develops some traction, but as of now, Time Raiders is set to kickoff with a pricing model that allows players to start earning right away without putting money down.

Which makes Time Raiders a good alternative if you’re just laying your first stone in this whole concept of P2E gaming, and also plan to get the same gaming experience you’re used to getting thus far.

But more on that in a bit.

#2. Tokenomics

Axie Infinity Time Raiders

Smooth Love Potion ($SLP) Xpendium ($XPND)

In-game mechanics is where these two titles share a common ground.

NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are the driving engine behind everything built within the gameplay. In the case of Axie Infinity, it’s the Smooth Love Potion (SLP.) This unique token is linked to the digital content of the game; which consists of Axies and several land plots, and you can employ it to trade Axies at the game’s marketplace in exchange for real dollars.

With Time Raiders, it’s quite similar.

Yet this time around, the native token goes by the name of Xpendium (XPND), and, just like Axie Infinity, every item in the game is an NFT that can be traded for it. But, unlike SLP, this token has actual utility within the game itself. It can be used to buy items, upgrade weapons, unlock new levels and even to stake long term.

Needless to say, this token was created with a broader picture in mind — it isn’t just about giving players the chance to earn a profit. The core essence behind Time Raiders is dropping an arcade-style shoot & loot game that feels just like what gamers are used to seeing in PC Games.

The NFT gamification mechanics? Just a bonus.

Which makes Time Raiders just as suited for the everyday gamer as it is for the crypto enthusiast next door. And this… takes us to the final point.

(But before we wrap this up, here’s an important note to keep in mind:

Both of these games happen to run on the Ethereum blockchain. Which ultimately means, whatever item, Axie or NFT you land within the game, you own. The recent advent of blockchain technology has allowed P2E games to give players the right to validate ownership over their digital assets. Certainly, game by game lost treasured collections won’t be an issue any longer.

What a time to be a gamer!

#3. Gameplay

Axie Infinity Time Raiders

Pokemon-style Open-World Shoot & Loot

We find ourselves on the fork of the road.

That stage of the journey where Time Raiders truly sets itself apart from any current P2E game you’ll find in the market.

You see, a common dilemma players stumble upon when they first get the ball rolling with P2E games… it’s how different these games are from what they’re used to playing.

If you’ve ever played Axie Infinity before, or any P2E game available right now for that matter, you’ll know what they’re alluding to. A seriously entertaining game with a familiar, ‘Pokemon-esque’ flavor to it, but without the graphics and real-time gameplay most PC players grew up with. Which, needless to say, leaves much to be desired.

After all, if your concept of a game is titles like GTA, Diablo or Bioshock, and suddenly, somebody came in & offered you a chance to earn a living from your efforts; but playing a far inferior product — you’d probably take him on his on offer, but with a sour taste in the mouth.

Ultimately, this brings us to the age-old question:

Why should P2E games be any less of a game than what we’re used to getting from the gaming industry?

This by itself, is the main problem Time Raiders is tackling — by moving from Play to Earn to Play AND Earn.

Built on a real game engine that supports excellent graphics and real-time gameplay, Time Raiders is just what the everyday gamer has been craving for:

A real game that merges the gameplay and quality of excellent PC titles like League of Legends or Diablo with the groundbreaking NFT mechanics of an Axie Infinity — bringing a whole new look to blockchain gaming that simply hasn’t been seen thus far.

Ambiented in the depths of the cyberpunks of 2247, Time Raiders is a time-traveling game that is set to offer the greatest NFT treasure hunt of your life.

Truly and sincerely, ahead of its time.

Thanks for reading.
