Timescale CTO Mike Freedman, far right, participates in a keynote panel focused on time-series data at Percona Live (April ‘17)

It’s been a busy few months for Timescale. From March 15th to May 31st Timescale gave 15 talks at conferences and Meetups in the US and Europe.

In case you missed them, below are two of those talks —the first by Ajay and the other by Mike, our Cofounders — given at Percona Live, back in April.

Talk 1: What the heck is time-series data (and why do I need a TSDB)?

Timescale CEO Ajay Kulkarni breaks down time-series data and why purpose-built time-series databases are becoming more and more necessary and popular

Talk 2: Building a scalable time-series database on PostgreSQL

Mike takes us through TimescaleDB, and how we scale and optimize PostgreSQL for time-series data

*special thanks to Percona for the quality videos and an awesome show.

Looking ahead

In July, Timescale is slated to participate in a few more events:

PGConf Philly, July 14th — Mike will be giving another talk on the same topic, with more benchmarking detail and numbers.

AgTech X / IoT NY joint Meetup, July 17th — Timescale will present and moderate a panel of technical professionals in AgTech, focusing on the role IoT and data play in business decision making, farming techniques and driving this nascent, growing industry forward.

Metrics and Monitoring Meetup, July 19th — Prometheus has become an open-source standard in collecting and monitoring metrics, giving software developer teams greater clarity on complex IT operations. And while Prometheus has its own time-series storage subsystem specifically for metrics monitoring, a time-series database like TimescaleDB allows you to ask more complex questions of your data.
