Calm your tits about the damn headphone jack.

As we all know, Apple announced the iPhone 7 yesterday and the entire world have their knickers in a twist because of one thing Apple did:

“They took out the headphone jack.”

Such a fucking worldwide disaster isn’t it?

How dare they? I mean, now we can’t charge our phones and listen to music at the same time.

And those $160 AirPods, so damn expensive.

Their sales are definitely going to tank, aren’t they?

Bullshit. It’s all bullshit. Everybody is being so damn dramatic for nothing and it’s getting on my nerves.

APPLE REMOVED THE JACK, WE ARE DOOMED AND THERE’S NOTHING WE CAN DO. Here’s what you can do:

  • Buy bluetooth headphones. That way, you can charge your phone and listen to all the podcasts in the world. You don’t have to buy the AirPods if you think they’re expensive. Every damn brand has at least one Bluetooth offering. Bluetooth headphones have existed since this guy.

Stop acting like it’s so damn brand new. Bluetooth headphones and buds have done a good job of permeating into the space and they’ve had a good long time to do so.

  • Don’t buy the iPhone 7. I mean, I got on Twitter and it seemed like Apple had cleared out their entire iPhone catalog and left only the 7. I had to go to apple.com/iphone to make sure. If you want to buy an iPhone and the headphone jack is a deal breaker; you can get the either iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus or the SE. THERE ARE FIVE OTHER IPHONES YOU CAN BUY IF YOU’RE SO BENT ON BEING STUCK IN THE PAST. And none of them are “too old” or like archaic or whatever, they’ll all run iOS 10 and you’d get a lot of new features.

Furthermore, I don’t understand why it seems like Apple took out a “feature” from the iPhone. One genius I follow actually compared this issue to the removal of the camera.

No. It’s not a feature that got removed. It’s a connector (port) that they feel like they can do without and this has been happening since forever. Android phones are all going to switch to USB Type C and it would render all old accessories “useless”. Same thing that happened when Apple switched to the lightning connector. Same thing that happened when everybody left USB Type A for Micro B.

It’s never a switch that happens instantaneously, it’s a slow process, one usually littered with adapters.

2016 is as good a time as any to start the transition away from the headphone jack, the same way we always transition away from all old tech. Everybody is going to do it, Samsung and all your fave Android OEMs. It only makes sense to do away with the jack, moving forward.

So, do me a favour: Calm your tits, shut up and applaud Apple’s courage.
