The Story of Moana: Journey of Water
Epcot’s newest exhibit is a different type of attraction — where the element of water shows the way
Moana: Journey of Water is an entirely different type of Disney attraction.
My kids (ages 10 and 13) and my wife and I planned to walk through before quickly leaving for a lightning lane pass. We ended up staying much longer than anticipated, captivated by summoning water to the sky, walking through a waterfall (but not getting wet) and watching water playfully sing and dance.
The experiences around Disney World usually fall into two types of categories. Either they are fast and thrilling rides like Tron, Guardians of the Galaxy or Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Or they are family-friendly theatre-like experiences such as Turtle Talk with Crush, Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor or the classic It’s a Small World ride.
These two categories either appeal to parents with very young children, or adults and teens looking for a high-energy ride. There’s not a lot of overlap.
