(1) Can we finally admit that the foreign policy followed by the Bushes, the Clintons, and the Obamas is a complete failure? U.S. foreign policy since the end of the Second World War has relied on a couple of assumptions, chief among which were that a strengthening European Union would serve as a counterweight to Soviet(Russian) expansionism, and that this would be supplemented by the special relationship with a militarily and financially strong United Kingdom, both in Europe and elsewhere in the globe. Both of those assumptions have just been blown out of the water.

(2) Who would have thought that a follow-on consequence of the invasion of Iraq is the unraveling of the E.U…. and possibly the same for the U.K.?

(3) It turns out that treating political opponents with contempt, belittling their concerns, and calling them “racists” doesn’t actually work to persuade them to join your side.

(4) To the Anglo-American political left and other forces defending the status quo: no one believes you when you use the word “racist” anymore. You’ve done it so often in cases that were either borderline or clearly not “racist” that you’ve no credibility left on that topic. (And it’s especially rich when you shout about ‘racism’ while supporting institutionalized racism like Affirmative Action. Some ‘racists’ are more equal than others, I suppose.)
