Starting on October 8th until October 15th, Wake Alarm was featured as Free App of the Week on the App Store!

The Free App of the Week is a huge feature on the App Store. Apple only chooses one app to highlight globally. In order for an app to be chosen it must go from paid to free for the week, be localized and also universal. The side effect for app developers is you get a lot of eyeballs (and I mean A LOT). And if you’re lucky and have in-app purchases then you can still make a profit.

Downloads and Charting

It was fun too see our popular alarm clock ended up beating a lot of well known apps on the charts like Clash of Clans and Candy Crush. These gave us an interesting peak into what types of downloads you need to get into the top charts. We’ll save that for another post.

For the week Wake Alarm was free on the App Store it received over 1.3 million downloads!

At it’s peak we were receiving over 250k downloads a day. That momentum continued throughout the week, moving down to more normal levels near the end of the campaign. We’re super honoured to have an app chosen as the Free App of the Week. This was definitely on our biggest week in terms of downloads. The feature was also great for Next Keyboard, since we were running a cross promotion campaign in Wake. Shout out to Apple for the ❤️ and all of the new Wake users from around the world.
