His father, Chester A. Frog II, is the logo and mascot for TinyTales Press, a website and series of books dedicated to creating great kids and even better adults. While his father works hard at those two endeavors, he’s turned the reigns of this Medium site over to his grandson, Chester A. Frog IV. His dad calls him Junior.

Traits We Want To Develop in Children

For children by the age of 10, character development focuses on foundational traits that foster emotional intelligence, social skills, responsibility, and a positive attitude toward learning and interaction with others. Here’s our curated list of qualities that are beneficial for a child to have started to learn and exhibit by age 10, bearing in mind that growth and learning continue throughout life:

Respect — Understanding how to treat others with kindness and consideration.

Honesty — The importance of telling the truth and being trustworthy.

Empathy — Being able to understand and share the feelings of another.

Curiosity — A strong desire to learn and know more about the world.

Self-discipline — The ability to control one’s feelings and overcome one’s weaknesses.
