Como’s Hidden Gem

If you find yourself in the Como Lake area, you will not have trouble eating well. But if you are like us and want to feel at home eating authentic regional Lombardy food, you will have to stop by Patrizia & Massimo.
The Car to Farm team arrived on a sunny weekend in July, hungry and happy to sit down in their cute garden. The restaurant is set up in rustic style and makes you feel like you are at your parents house, in an intimate and authentic kind of way. The couple owned a small coffee shop which they then morphed into a small deli gourmet for over 30 years in another part of town. Hospitality being in their blood, they decided to open Tira Mola & Meseda in a less developed part of Como, where regulars stop by so often and for so long, they end up ordering at the window directly to Patrizia.
While there, Patrizia showed us how to make “Lasagnette al Pesce Persico”, a version of the lasagna pasta dish you probably never knew existed, and neither did we! We will obviously publish the recipe in Car to Farm’s cookbook! Along with the lasagnette we were served a menu including a traditional Insalata di Nervetti, or Veal cartilage Salad, a delicacy to foodies in Italy; some locally sourced tomatoes and burrata cheese; Vitello Tonnato, another traditional dish consisting of thinly sliced veal coated generously with a tuna sauce (a rare occasion where Italians mix meat and fish together); homemade berries-tagliatelle with mushrooms (which were to die for). Needless to say everything was delicious and Patrizia’s company made the whole experience special.
