Stand for our Neighbors
My Reflections on Ending DACA
Today, as the country celebrates Labor Day and honors the American labor movement, it has been reported that the administration will end DACA, a policy that at its core promotes employment and growth.
America stands for equality and opportunity. Children of immigrants who came to this country as kids are part of our community. More than 97 percent are in school or in the workforce. At least 72 percent of the top 25 Fortune 500 companies count DACA recipients among their employees.
Removing DACA thwarts opportunity. It is in direct contrast with Tipping Point’s core values of community and generosity, and against our belief that education and employment are critical to breaking the cycle of poverty.
We are better than this. We stand with our immigrant neighbors who help make the Bay Area the thriving and diverse region that we are, and must continue to be.
