Two words every event organizer loves to hear — ‘Sold Out!’. Ticket sales are an important metric for event organizers because often times your event budget may rely solely on money made from ticket sales.

To increase ticket sales to your event, employ one or more of these tactics:

1. Start early: Begin selling tickets to your events at least three weeks before the event. You can start with early access tickets for specific customers, e.g. subscribers, users, guests from last year’s events, and then move on to early bird tickets at a discounted rate.

2. Have a ticket sales strategy: Early access tickets, early bird tickets, group discounts, deal of the day are examples of ticket strategies that you can spread throughout the sales period — from the day tickets go live up till when they sell out. These ticket strategies ensure that you have multiple sale peaks in that period and eliminates the sales dump you may experience in between.

3. Consider tiered ticketing: Offer a range of differently priced tickets with unique benefits based on what is available at your event. For example, a VVIP ticket may allow attendees on that tier to have their own check-in line, backstage pass, and a swag bag, while a regular ticket may have no perks but is an affordable option. Identify relevant perks that you can offer at no extra cost to you. If there will be guest speakers at the event, you can charge extra for front-row seats or a meet and greet after the event is over.

Looking to sell different ticket types for your event? Look no further. You can create more than one ticket tier on tix easily. Learn how to do so here.

4. Create an exciting event page: Your event page is where people can learn about your event and decide whether to attend. Your event page should be captivating enough to hold people’s attention and informative enough to answer all the critical questions about the event: what, where, when, who, and how to register or buy tickets. Creating an event page on tix helps your event look polished and professional. You have fields to fill in necessary details about your event, add contact information, and a catchy image. There is also a call to action button to give visitors the nudge they need to buy tickets.

5. Promote, promote, promote: Utilize social media as part of your marketing strategy. Consider running sponsored ads on the social media channels you have identified as the most effective and relevant to your target audience. Create stunning event media assets and personalize them for speakers and performers. This will encourage them to share on their own platforms and with their community.

6. Ask attendees for referrals: Existing attendees can be your biggest marketers if properly incentivized. People will attend events their friends are going to. Take advantage of the inbuilt email marketing tool on tix to send emails to attendees encouraging them to tell their friends about the event. You can set up a reward system where guests win gifts or ticket upgrade for having the most friends buy tickets to your event. You can also give a group discount where a specific number of friends buy tickets and get a group rate.

7. Also, consider telling speakers, vendors, or performers for your event to share promotional materials with their community of loyal fans. You can reserve some tickets for them to run giveaway promotions.
