Opening tix.africa to Africa

Our story started in 2019, but it really started 4 years before then when we couldn’t find a solution to sell tickets for the Eat.Drink.Lagos Lunch Club online. At the time, we used a Shopify store to sell events tickets (it was expensive!) and a sheet of paper to collect data from attendees at larger events (the queues were really long). Between then and 2019, we realized that there had to be a better (and faster) way, and so the idea for tix.africa was born. Our simple truth is that event management didn’t have to be hard and so we set out to fix that.

In a nutshell, tix.africa is a self-service event management platform. Users can create events to sell tickets, manage admissions at the event, and collect payments from guests. We started in Lagos, Nigeria but we know that there are event organizers all over Africa who are creating incredible events and festivals. Our goal is to break down the barriers and operational inefficiencies experienced by event organizers of all sizes by giving them simple self-service tools. To that, we’re excited to share today that event creators outside of Nigeria can now use tix.africa for free events at no cost to them.

Given the current pandemic, we think the timing couldn’t be better. By removing restrictions on location, event creators across Africa who need simple tools to take their events online can now do so at no cost to them. To get started, all you need is an email address. It’s as simple as that, here’s an article on how to create your first event. If you have more question, we’ll be answering questions in the comments under this post or via our social media channels.
