For the fourth year in a row, electronic dance music lovers can experience all that Babylon has to offer. Taking a pause for the cause, given the severe weather conditions unfolding in Australia, the 2020 edition of Babylon Festival is set to be a one-day gathering called “Babylon in the Park”. Taking place on February 23rd at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Babylon in the Park will still preserve its energy and music intensity despite it’s downsizing.

Epilogue

Wrapped under a dome of sound, Babylon in the Park promises to create an immersive storyline, where the audiences are the actors of their own musical experience. Electronic dance music rhythms from techno/house to psytrance and deep house will resonate across Kings Gardens in central Melbourne. Enclosed in space that’s new, and driven by the sound of Babylon, festival attendees can create their own, unique, and indefinite experiences while in Babylon.

Despite being constraint by a new location, that doesn’t fully resonate with the original vision of the Baylon, the event will still yield an enriching musical panorama. Set across three stages, electronic dance music will spring into fruition from all corners of Sidney Meyer Music Bowl. There’ only one day to immerse yourself into the Babylon storyline, and one must choose wisely to whom to direct their undivided energy!

Line-up

Like every year, Babylon organizers curate a refreshing and orgasmic line-up that tingles every nerve in your body. Despite being forced to adjust the concept to fit the urban landscape, music that will resonate on the speakers will preserve its wild connection to Babylons music values. Now limited in space and time, the organizers altered their initial line-up, reducing some of their confirmed acts, and making sure that their festival still holds a sturdy musical standard. Set across three stages, each representing a distinct electronic music subgenre, Babylon In the Park, will propose a similar musical experience.

The house and techno stage will host DJ’s such as Carl Cox, who have shaped techno music for the past two decades. The Berlin-based duo Pan-Pot will also be slaying the speakers with their experimental approach to their techno sets. To offer a complete overview of the existing techno state, Reinier Zonneveld will deliver an energy driven live set composed of different breed techno. Lastly, Fuse head honcho, Enzo Siragusa, will greet Babylon attendees keen on grooving with a mix of minimal house cuts that make dancefloors move left to right in unison.

Another stretch of artists of the festival that’s been spiking interest is the likes of Dickster or Ace Ventura. With high pitched BPM rhythms that create calming harmonies despite their thumping basslines, psytrance is quickly becoming a festival favorite! Quivver is another dance act that guides people through a journey of sound, leaving them stunned and amazed by the power music can have on the body.

Even without a large playing field, Babylon organizers can line-up a dance music repertoire that meets any expectations. This year’s edition of Babylon in the Park won’t be like the original festival, but at least the festival will continue to grind on, despite its hurdles.
