Live music is more popular than ever, with festivals and major artist tours selling out in minutes rather than hours thanks to the increased demand and of course the internet.

So if I miss out on the initial run of tickets and the gigs sold out how do I safely buy resale tickets?

Don’t Trust Random People on Facebook

When events sell out scammers come out of the woodwork. Despite the company’s best efforts it takes a scammer seconds to create a fake Facebook profile. They tend to use pictures stolen off other people’s profiles and may look legit!

However their goal is to get you to transfer them money for tickets that don’t exist. Once the transfer has occurred the Facebook profile will disappear along with your hard earned cash. This affects thousands of people around the world each year.

Sellers on Tixel are verified using our best in class anti-fraud technology and so are the tickets. We confirm the identity of the seller and hold on to your money until the ticket is safely in your account. We’ve never sold a fake ticket!

If you are looking for a ticket on a Facebook event look for a seller with a Tixel link.

Look Out For Inflated Prices

Laws and legislation vary around the world on how much a ticket can be resold for. This means for a really high demand event you can end up paying hundreds on dollars over the face value of the ticket. Do your research on what the initial face value of a ticket was to avoid getting ripped off!

At Tixel our machine learning system reads the initial face value of a ticket (eg. $100) and only let sellers list at 10% over that (eg. $110). This means real fans can end up attending a gig rather than those who can afford to pay exorbitant prices.

Be Aware of Name on Ticket Policies

To help curb scalping more and more events are instituting a “name on ticket policy”. What this means is event staff will check to make sure the name on your ticket matches the name on your ID.

So you may end up with a perfectly “legit” ticket but still not be able to enter the event. When you buy a resale ticket for an event with a name on ticket policy ensure the seller reissues the ticket in your name.

Tixel has integrations with all major ticketing issuers meaning before the seller gets your money the ticket is reissued in your name. No need to bug the seller into doing it for you either, we handle all of that.

Stay Safe Out There!

The internet has lead to a boon for ticket resale, but not necessarily a safe or ethical one. At Tixel we believe people should be able to access events and experiences safely and at a fair price.
