Lions, Tigers and…Beers? It’s a wild combination, but it feels right. In 2020 Zoo Twilights will be held every weekend from the 24th Jan to the 7th of March on the lush lawns of the Melbourne Zoo. All the proceeds from the event will go directly to helping the critically endangered Eastern Barred Bandicoot from extinction.

The 2020 edition welcomes Confidence Man for the opening party alongside local DJ Waxo Paradiso on the 24th of January. On Australia day weekend Icehouse will be performing two sold-out shows and yes you can expect him to perform the iconic “Great Southern Land” for the occasion. The next 7 shows are all sold-out from Toots & The Matyals to Missy Higgins to The Cat Empire. However, this does mean your chances of going are missed. Join a waitlist on Tixel for your chance to secure a spot on the grass! Following these shows from February through to March are 10cc, Methyl Ethel, Julia Jacklin, Meg Mac, Stereolab and Mavis Staples. Tickets from some of these shows are still available here. If you have a ticket and decide you can’t go, you can always sell them at a later date here.

Picnicking is encouraged and various bars serve a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as food from a range of food trucks. The show starts at 7pm, however, for those wanting to take a glimpse of the animals before the indulging music, gates will open at 5:30. If you’d like a full day of viewing, you are able to access the zoo the entire day, however, you will need to exit at 5pm and come back at 5:30pm when the gates open for Zoo Twilight.
