A GPT Man or GOD Man?

ChatGPT has garnered more than 100 million active users since its initial debut in November 2023, and the figure continues to climb. It does arouse a great deal of public attention and concern. Since ChatGPT can produce articles and research papers for students, instructors are concerned about plagiarism and cause a decline in students’ critical thinking and writing skills if they just ask the chatbot to do their assignments. Thus, in the United States, a number of school districts prohibit the use of ChatGPT in classrooms, and several universities, such as the University of Hong Kong, already prohibit its usage by students.

Other instructors, however, have differing views about the use of the chatbot, arguing that ChatGPT can assist students in their own learning if they use it sensibly, and that teachers may utilize it wisely to help their students improve their learning effectiveness. Additionally, instructors should adapt their teaching strategies to meet the needs of their students rather than resisting the use of innovative technology such as ChatGPT.

So, what exactly is ChatGPT? Why does it make so many people feel fearful or anxious about its consequences? ChatGPT is conversational and able to engage in dialogue. ChatGPT simulates human interactions and carries out human orders, but it must be taught, meaning that it needs humans to supply a vast quantity of information or data to this AI machine to facilitate its deep learning. As a result, the chatbot can undertake a number of tasks, including answering queries, creating articles and computer code, and summarizing lengthy bits of information.

As previously described, the ChatGPT chatbot must be pretrained and supplied with data. The more we give the machine information and data, the more powerful it becomes. Meanwhile, the computer grows “uglier or filthier” the more incorrect information it receives, and the user will receive or unknowingly propagate the erroneous information. And it is possible that the disinformation permeates the whole of society.

But how can we make the most of emerging AI technologies such as ChatGPT while avoiding being misled or dumbed down by probable misinformation and copy-and-paste data from the chatbot machine? The only remedy to the overuse of chatbots, or ChatGPT, is to seek God’s counsel and become a GOD man instead of a GPT man. GOD is an acronym meaning “Great,” “Omni,” and “Divine.” God is greater and more powerful than any machine mankind can create, and as the universe’s Creator, He does not need any feeding to comprehend what humans are doing and to predict what they will do in the future. Since He is divine, He is omniscient, knowing everything from the past, present, and future; omnipotent, holding unmatched strength and power; and omnipresent, appearing everywhere, being unblockable, and having unlimited access to all places.

So, friend, would you rather be a man of GPT or a man of GOD? A GPT man is relies completely on the feeding of the world for his daily provision, including its traditions, practices, and the like. And he is like this world as he thinks what the world thinks and does what the world does and relishes what the world offers. A GOD man, however, simply depends on the all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present God to feed him. He always wants to bring delight to God and fulfill his God-driven life. As Jesus said, “I’ll do what the Father commands me to do,” (John 14:31). Which one would you choose?
