What if Language broke?

Communication between us would base itself on guesses and gestures, on taking cues from the media as how to respond to others.

We would not recognize each other; words would go colorless. What binds the light of letters together would chafe and split. Losing that bond they’d go frail, flail, and limp, easy prey for the forces of misunderstanding.
