Helping Small Businesses in Our Community™
Today we are proud to be supporting small businesses in San Francisco with $2500 grants to three businesses. The businesses we are supporting with these grants are JP Kempt, Thee Parkside, and Turner’s Kitchen.
The entire TM team felt it was our duty to do our part to support small businesses in San Francisco affected by the Coronavirus shutdown. Right now, small businesses need one thing to survive, money. Not enough is being done by local governments to ensure their survival. The economics of small business ownership were never designed to withstand this type of event and the threat that small businesses in this city will be ruined by this crisis is real. As a company that hasn’t seen the same level of financial impact as a result of the shutdown, we felt compelled to help. We hope other businesses like ours will do the same.
We are so grateful to be a part of our community in San Francisco. While the Coronavirus has brought with it a lot of uncertainty, the one thing we know is that people are coming together in unimaginable ways. The spirit of the city is stronger than ever and we all have a lot to look forward to. However, it is heartbreaking for us to see businesses around us closed; to know fellow entrepreneurs are facing the most difficult and unpredictable circumstances imaginable.
The places that bring people together in person are the fabric of this city. The small business owners and employees behind them, the soul of this city. Memories are made, friendships formed, and bonds strengthened at the small businesses, restaurants, and bars of this city. With things as they are, nothing feels right about life; our hair keeps growing, bands we adore cannot perform, and restaurants aren’t able to host people the way they desire.
My co-founder Steph Bain and I opened our business in San Francisco because we wanted to be actively involved in the community here, the city we call home. We each started families here with the intention of laying roots in the city, desiring to be a part of building a future here for the lives of our children and the lives of every other citizen. The owners behind the businesses we are supporting inspire us; from the way they care about their employees to their passion for sharing their talent with others. They do what they do because they desire to bring people together. They are San Francisco, and we can’t imagine life here without them.
We hope that our actions today will inspire other businesses that aren’t affected by the shutdown to reach out and help those that are. Being a part of a community is about asking for and providing help whenever and wherever possible. We would not be where we are without the help and support of those around us. Now is our time to give back.
