SiP — Leos Naturals
It is often spoken that hope is lost. Where it goes, no one seems to understand. It’s a commodity that we either possess or is taken away with no way of regaining that precious hope. It ceases to be a state of mind; a part of our grit, a piece of our desire to will goodness into existence.
It is through Leos Naturals that SiP posits that hope springs eternal. That even in the darkest and grimmest of circumstances, hope is not an inanimate object to be given and taken away, but a splendid paradise of happenstance where every once in awhile our successes are given. Of course, impediments (self-made or constructed by various institutions who wish us to not receive our federally-mandated quotient of hope) manifest and the bubbly organ music of Jimmy Lacy will never make up for those which exist to extract hope from us.
Yet, Lacy’s work keeps hope alive and afloat in the uncertainty of what we now see is a changing society. Current crises are showing the fatal flaws of a society built not on hope but desperation. What we were all clinging to was a false sense of identity; confusing ourselves for some higher beings of rationality when in fact we’re shivering masses of molten emotion bubbling over.
Leos Naturals is the soothing balm to keep us focused on what we all need: hope. It goes beyond simplistic sloganeering and faux chin-up pep talks. We all NEED hope, even in our most desperate and desolate times. But what we really need is music and art that pushes us toward each other, and that’s what Lacy provides, which is why this mellow organ exercise fits well within the NNF confines; a label of Britt Brown’s construction that finds the frequency we can all relate to each other upon and vibes it out into the virtual world in hopes of extracting a physical connection. And despite distances both imposed and enforced, just know that when I’m reaching out there’s hope that I touch you — and you me — in a meaningful (and totally safe and agreed upon) manner. All I have is words. All Lacy has is music. All Brown has is a sender. But all of us together can help find those that need a dose of positivity to go with their reality. Hope is not lost, it’s just been misplaced and we’ll all do what we can to help you find it.
