Sitting down to write a novel two hundred or more years ago meant pulling out the quill, the ink bottle and a plain sheet of parchment. Fifty years ago, pen and paper were still in existence but the typewriter was the tool used by most writers. However, most typewriters were roughly the same and most paper they used were roughly the same.
