The Nature of Positivity

Long ago, an Indian botanist, Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, discovered that plants react to the attitude with which they’re nurtured. For example, music, even dance, can have a dramatic effect on growth. The same is true of human beings. Surrounded by good vibrations, we flourish. Retailers have exploited this tendency for years by piping music into their stores.

You can do the same in your office or studio, simply by surrounding yourself with “positivity.” Music is a motivator (plants seem to prefer violin). Colors can also affect your mood (red is high energy, green is restful, yellow is optimism incarnate). Photos of loved ones can be inspiring and so can scents and positive quotes. Last but not least, a single plant can add life to your work place, as well as oxygen and earthy companionship.

In short, don’t take your work environment for granted. Creativity thrives on positive energy, so make sure it fills every nook and cranny.
