November 1: Today in Dance

Born Today: André Levinson

Dance writer André Levinson (1887–1933) taught at the Sorbonne in Paris and wrote many books in the 1920s about influential dance personalities. He preferred the technical aspects of classical ballet rather than the expressive possibilities that were championed by his contemporary, Michel Fokine (1880–1942), though Levinson did have a fondness for modern dancer Isadora Duncan (1877–1927).
