Born Today: Adolph Bolm

Ballet dancer Adolph Bolm (1884–1951) toured with Anna Pavlova (1881–1931) in 1908–1909 and performed with the original Ballets Russes company before relocating to Chicago to teach. In 1929, he relocated to California, establishing the San Francisco Opera Ballet in 1933.

Also Born Today: The dancer with the most flexible back, Harriet Hoctor (1905–1976). Check out her performance in Shall We Dance (1937), and Ballroom dancer Juliet Prowse (1936–1996).
