A district of Bangladesh, Kishoreganj, is rich in varied topography.

Consisting of 13 upazilas, this district of Dhaka Division of Bangladesh bears the memory of many historical events.

Today’s Kishoreganj is blessed with the memory of Dwij Banshidas, the poet of Mansamangal, his daughter Chandrabati, the medieval woman poet of Bengali language, Ala Isha Khan in Bir Kesari Masand and Upendra Kishore Roy Chowdhury, one of the pioneers of Bengali children’s literature, and his son Sukumar Roy.

The district is easily accessible by both rail and road. There are many sightseeing places in this district.

Apart from the historical sightseeing places, some more aesthetic structures and sightseeing spots have been developed here. Every day thousands of visitors and tourists come to these places and get emotional satisfaction.

Let us briefly know some information about the sightseeing places and tourist spots of the Haor region of the Kishoreganj district.

Itna, Mithamin, and Ashtagram upazilas in the northeastern part of Kishoreganj. These three upazilas have been declared by the current government as complete Haor upazilas.

Apart from this, most areas of Nikli upazila are also known as Haor. Apart from this, parts of Karimganj, Tarail, and Bajitpur upazilas are also included in Haor. Once upon a time, a saying was often uttered like a proverb in the mouth of the people of Howar ‘Nao in the rain, get in the dry’.

That is, during the rainy season, the only means of communication for the Haor people was by boat, and during the dry season, they walked on foot.

The ever-neglected and backward Haor people never thought that electric light would be lit in their houses, or mechanical vehicles would run in their area.

That impossible dream has become a reality in their lives today. Today, house-to-house electricity has flashed, and muddy paths have become paved roads with concrete.

And the impossible has been made possible by their son, the former president. Abdul Hamid.

The road turns into an attractive tourist spot for the wanderlust people to see the beauty and aesthetics of the road.

As the road is built through the huge body of water of Haor, it looks like an amazing structure floating on the sea. Especially during the rainy season, a heart-wrenching scene takes place here.

Every day thousands of people from different parts of the country flock here to enjoy the sight of Haor’s abundance.

The tourism potential of this all-weather road with easy connectivity to Etna-Mithamain-Ashtagram is increasing day by day.

Another historical landmark of Mithamain Upazila is Bithangal Arena. Locally it is known as Akhara of Delhi.

The Akhara was built by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, so it is called the Akhara of Delhi. Rows of thick trees on the banks of the river flowing by the Akhara, ancient walls, buildings, and the beautiful environment inside make for a breathtaking scene. Every year tourists flock from far and wide to enjoy the beautiful scenery here.

Apart from this, a high-quality residential hotel named ‘President Resort’ has been built by private enterprise in Mithamain upazila, so there are many benefits for tourists to stay and eat.

On the other hand, the Chief of Sayer Jalkar Mahal of Zainshahi Pargana of Mughal rule and contemporary Dewan Majlish of Isa Khan, Delawar Khan founded the Dewan clan near Itna Thana Sadar.

The Dewan house of this town of Haor still attracts the attention of tourists. Golam Hyder, the Northern Dewan of Itna Dewans, established his zamindari at Ashtagram Thana Sadar in the 18th century AD.

The jewels of the past can still be found in the Dewan house of Ashtagram. Tourists from far and wide still flock to see the magnificent Qutb Mosque built in the Sultanate period design around 400 years ago at Ashtagram police station headquarters.
It is not possible to find a person who has not heard the name of Panir of Ashtagram Upazila.

The embankment built near Haor Kol in Nikli Thana Sadar has already become one of the tourist centers.

Especially during the rainy season, this embankment looks like a huge road floating in the heart of Haor. Karachaban located in the Chhatirchar village of this upazila creates extraordinary beauty during the monsoon season.

Every monsoon season, hundreds of visitors from all over the country flock here to explore the Nikli embankment and karach forest.

As the development activities of Etna, Istagram,

and Mithamin are speeding up and roads and various facilities have been constructed here, this Haor area has created immense potential for tourism
