Apr. 29 — Botany Prison

On April 29th, 1770, one of the greatest naval explorers of all time, Captain James Cook, discovered and named “Botany Bay” (because of all the cool plants they found) in nowadays Australia, officially kicking off British interest in their eventual prison colony.
