I am not Bossy. I am the Boss.
This sign sits on Sharon’s desk inside the warehouse she runs as the responsible Level 3 in Non-Destructive Testing.
Sharon has 40 years of experience under her belt, starting at the age of 17 in the Air Force and gaining certifications in 7 different technologies.
She has jumped through the hoops of testing to get to the top of her profession. She oversees technicians and determines if a part is acceptable or not.
And still, when the maintenance man from the elevator company comes in, he approaches her desk and asks to see the boss.

Either they don’t read it, or they don’t believe it, but either way she has developed a strategy.
When someone approaches her, asking for the boss, she stands up, turns around and sits back down.
“Here I am,” she explains.
It has been years since a supervisor in a plant where she was working as a contractor followed her, even showing up at her hotel. Fortunately, her supervisor at the time approached the management to remove the creepy stalker.
What if her Level 3 had not advocated for her?
