It is Time For Women to Claim Our Power

Women in the U.S. still make 82 cents for every dollar a man makes. This gap in pay has persisted for 20 years, despite recent trends towards salary transparency and laws supporting it in a number of different states.

This is the country where women got the right to vote 50 years after People of Color.

The Equal Rights Amendment which states — “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any State on account of sex,” was never passed.

Without this constitutional amendment, it is no wonder our very bodies can be legislated by men.

Women provide the care-giving in most families — for themselves, the children, spouses and relatives. This is imperative to the economy.

Our care-giving is imperative to the economy. (I repeat for emphasis.)

What would happen if we decided to NOT go to work, take care of the children, the elderly for one day? If every female did not show up to teach, nurse and clean — the economy would come to a grinding HALT.
