The Trapped Bird

A mannequin whose body and back of head are cut away to reveal machination.

There’s a bird in the plant where it shouldn’t be

It fluttered amongst the machines, hopped along the floor,

Hurled against tiny windows, flapped against massive doors.

The bird in the plant, my soul, cries I can’t. Let me out.
