In Racine, Wisconsin, a few of us volunteers have managed to tie in a solar-energy-installation training program for young adults with a local environmental initiative. It has been a big challenge for everyone involved to prepare the legal and insurance considerations for this program, and also to ensure that it will be completely targeted to local young people who have left high school and who lack diplomas. I have been working with the

Mayor to follow through on a proposal to open the City Youth Employment program to non-college bound young people. The success of this training program and the great effort these young people are showing will encourage our City Politicians to expand opportunities for others. These young people deserve the spotlight — they have boots on the roof!
