Lost and

Suppose you find a key on the ground
or a single glove without a pair which happens in wintertime
Someone lost it
They may come back and look for it
Leave it lying on the ground?
Nay, you need a more obvious place
Whoever dropped it accidentally, should notice it right away

Where do you put it?
You look around
There's a bench nearby
You place it on a spot where it's clearly visible
This is mind reading in practice
You guess where a stranger would look first
Not a specific person you know
whose way of thinking is familiar to you
but a total stranger

It seems an universal human trait
how we scan our environment
where we look first and where next

If you don't like to call it mind reading, I have another name for it
Let´s call it the Schelling-point of lost and found
