Macy awakens, knocked out and disoriented.

This is not unusual, but this time his head hurts more than his bladder.

“What the hell happened?” he mutters, trying to remember how he got here.

The last thing he remembers is leaving the pub with his friends. He must have had too much to drink, but he can’t remember anything after that.

He tries to get up, but his head is throbbing and he feels nauseous. He decides to lie down for a few more minutes.

Suddenly, he hears footsteps approaching.

Someone is coming!

He tries to get up again, but his head is spinning and he can’t see straight. He falls back onto the ground, just as the footsteps reach him.

A figure appears above him, silhouetted against the night sky.

“Who are you?” Macy croaks.

“You don’t remember me?” the figure replies.

Macy squints, trying to make out the figure’s features, but it’s too dark.

“I’m sorry, I don’t.”

“We met last week. I’m the one who gave you the drink.”

Suddenly, it all comes back to Macy.

He remembers the stranger who bought him a drink at the pub.

“But why?” he asks.

“I wanted to see what would happen,” the figure replies. “I wanted to see if you were as weak as I thought you were.”

Macy tries to get up again, but he’s still too dizzy.

The figure bends down and grabs him by the throat.

“And now you’re going to die,” the figure says.

Macy tries to scream, but the figure’s grip is too strong.

The figure squeezes harder.

Macy feels his vision start to fade.

And then he hears someone else in the room.

“Let him go!”

The figure looks up, and Macy sees that it’s a man in a black hoodie.

The man grabs the figure and throws him across the room.

The figure hits the wall and falls to the ground.

The man in the hoodie runs over to Macy and helps him up.

“Are you okay?” the man asks.

Macy nods.

“Who are you?”

“My name is Lesss, with three s’s to make it feel more.” the man says. “I’m here to help you.”

Lesss helps Macy to the bed and lays him down.

Then he goes over to the figure on the floor and starts to search him.

“What are you doing?” Macy asks.

“Looking for ID,” Lesss says. “We need to know who this guy is.”

But the figure is wearing a mask, and there’s no ID on him.

“Do you know who he is?” Lesss asks.

Macy shakes his head.

“I’ve never seen him before in my life.”
