While chestnuts were roasting and everyone’s toasting, the TEC was busy building…and celebrating. Step inside our last post of a bizarre 2020 and find out what we’ve been up to and where we are going. From decentralized caroling to a Catalan Christmas log pooping wrapped xDai to a conversation on prospective TEC funding proposals, you don’t want to miss the merry insides of this wrapper. We are extremely energized for Q1 2021.

🎄Praise-Mas

While many were relaxing and soaking in the holiday warmth with their friends and families, the TEC family was doing the same — Praise-mas!

Feeding Caga Tìo paid off for all the CSTK token holders this year!

It was truly reflective of the collective energy and common cause of this amazing community to join together on Christmas Eve Day and share Praise for each other. A special appearance was made by the Catalan pooping log, Caga Tìo, and we were all gifted with excreted wrapped xDai. All of this while demoing the latest TEC Test Hatch App (and contributing said pooped wxDai via the beta) and spontaneous decentralized caroling.

📜 TEC Proposals

What is a TE Public Good and should your project submit a funding proposal?

In conjunction with the TEC Test HatchDAO, the TEC has opened funding proposal submissions for token engineering and related open source projects focused on TE public goods.

So what kind of projects qualify or have a likelihood of getting funded by the community? While the goal is clear and the community is aligned around a shared focus, there are many potential paths to take. Ultimately, these decisions will be up to the community through proposals and voting. In the meantime, three main areas have been identified, signaling potential project and development areas:

🧰 Open-Source Tools & Research
📚 Education
📡 Token Engineering Narratives & Awareness

What projects or work would you like to see funded that are not on this list? What kinds of projects, that have not been mentioned, fall outside of the mission and would you not want to see funded?

Take a TEC Proposal Deep Dive on our Discourse Forum & maybe even submit a funding proposal

⚖️ Legal Strategy VOTE!

Over the last few months, the TEC Legal Working Group, along with DAO legal experts, examined the liabilities and strategies for the legal protection of TEC members. The following proposal is the result of that research.

It’s an exciting and critical proposal, please consider voting on the strategy proposed and asking questions or giving feedback on the forum. We greatly appreciate it!

And now…

💎 The Praise is in! Impact Hour Leaderboard

For participation, TE Commons contributors are acknowledged via a praise bot developed by the Commons Stack and then that Praise is quantified and converted into Impact Hours. Through Telegram and Discord bots and bridges, community members dish Praise to each other to recognize work.

Impact Hours will be converted into TEC tokens at launch. As voted on by the community, the intention is that each hour will be worth somewhere between $20-$200 of contributions covested into the Hatch 🐣.

Congratulations on the hard work everyone and thank you for your contributions to the Token Engineering Commons! 🥳 Here is the full list of Impact Hours awarded for work from December 5–18:

Every contribution counts, and the Token Engineering Commons is incredibly grateful for its 183 active contributors that have earned Praise so far. 🙏 Below is a partial list of total Impact Hours to date, the full list and the math behind its calculation can be found in this spreadsheet:
