Commons Upgrade Preparation, 1st HatchDAO Vote, and Community Events!
TEC Latest News: October 25th, 2021
Commons Upgrade Preparation
The Commons Upgrade Dashboard is entering its final stages of development, and that can mean only one thing: it’s time to design our economy! The Commons Upgrade Dashboard will allow community members to propose their own design by setting custom parameters for the Augmented Bonding Curve and Conviction Voting modules!
If you find yourself doubting your ability to propose designs for the TEC token economy, no worries! The Dashboard has educational tools built directly into the design process allowing everyone the ability to understand the parameter choices available to choose from and what implications they hold for your design!
Once you have something you like, bring your design ideas to our Parameter Parties (a fun and interactive work-session where members select and defend their parameter choices). The first Param parties are set to start this week. There will be several parties scheduled, so keep an eye out on the TEC Calendar when these parties are taking place and how to get involved!
The TEC Passes the 1st HatchDAO Vote!
The “One Time change of TECH Addresses” Proposal was submitted to the HatchDAO and successfully passed! This is the very first HatchDAO proposal submitted and passed, and it will allow those members who wanted to change their wallet address to burn their TECH tokens and re-mint them to their new wallet address.
This initial vote will require two additional HatchDAO votes to be submitted and passed that enables the HatchDAO the ability to mint and burn TECH tokens and to allow the DAO Agent to transfer these tokens to the new wallet addresses. Future HatchDAO votes are also on track to be submitted, so please keep up to date on the TEC Forum!
Community Events
As the TEC continues to move towards the Commons Upgrade, we have a lot of community events hosted by our many Working Groups. If you are new to the TEC, or are interested in contributing to the advancement of Token Engineering — here is a list of upcoming community events for you to start getting involved:
TEC Lounge
The TEC Lounge is an easy way for you to get to know the humans behind the screen. The TEC Lounge is a casual community call that is centered around relationship building, and allows everyone to spend time talking with each other about the world outside of their direct involvement within the TEC. Come gain new perspectives, provide your own, and get to know your fellow community members! TEC Lounge calls happen every Friday at 5pm CET.
Orientation Call
The Orientation Call is a 1-hour meeting that allows potential members to ask questions, learn about the TEC mission and get a good understanding of how the DAO operates. We highly recommend this call as a first step for new contributors or those interested in joining the TEC. This call takes place every Wednesday at 6pm CET on the TEC Discord.
DAO Book Club
The DAO Book Club server is seeing a lot of action these days, as we have just finished up our second reading of Elinor Ostroms, “Governing the Commons”. We currently have two additional Book Clubs currently ongoing (and potentially more coming in the future):
“Non-Violent Communication” by Marshall Rosenberg is hosted by Juan K. Bell and the Gravity Working Group — focusing on learning the ins-and-outs of Non-Violent Communication and its context within DAOs. This meeting happens every Thursday at 9pm CET.
“The Sovereign Individual” by James Davidson is hosted by witwiki — exploring the revolution of the information age and the role DAOs play in the future. This meeting happens every Saturday at 10am CET.
Content Workshops
Our Communications Working Group hosts weekly Content Workshops for those contributors interested in writing, designing, and developing useful content for TEC events and initiatives. These workshops are held on Mondays and Thursdays at 4pm CET in the Comms Voice Channel.
Graviton Training
Our Gravity Working Group is in full swing with the second-cohort of Graviton Training, a 10 week session where individuals learn how to manage conflict within DAOs. There are 5 remaining sessions, and each meeting is held at 8pm CET within the Gravity Voice Channel of the TEC Discord:
October 26: Decolonization (Facilitator: Regis Chapman)
November 2: Psychology of Human Leadership (Facilitator: Manuel Flores)
November 9: Gravity Processes (Facilitator: Juan K. Bell)
November 16: Ostroms Principles (Facilitator: Livia Deschenmeyer)
November 23: Mediation Cases (Facilitator: Juan K. Bell)
Meme Parties
For those of you who love your memes, this is the place to be. Each Friday at 9am CET, community members set up the music bot and test out their meme skills by developing memes for the TEC and sharing them with each other in the Meme Party Text channel on the TEC Discord server.
