TE Fundamentals NFT Minting Seasons are here!
Mint your NFT certificate for free — Minting Season 1 starts on September 29
TE Fundamentals, TE Academy’s main five-module educational program, has been an incredible success story. Less than a year after launch, more than 3000 students have registered, passing more than 1000 exams.
Our graduates now possess a fundamental understanding of the three main steps for creating reliable and successful token economies: First, knowing what cryptoeconomic systems are capable of, how to design a system from scratch, and second, how to verify if the envisioned properties hold. Additionally, our graduates acquired knowledge about token-based governance and the challenges of algorithms as policy.
After passing modular exams, students can mint NFT certificates as verified proofs of knowledge on the Optimism blockchain. These account-bound tokens allow aspiring token engineers to build their professional track record. These special NFTs are also a great way to represent a student’s reputation in the space, a growing popular trend. Third parties, such as Gitcoin and Token Engineering Commons, are already experimenting with ways to grant special rights to TE Academy NFT holders with verified token engineering knowledge and skills.
Announcing TE Fundamentals NFT Minting Seasons
At TE Academy, we believe in providing free education as a public good. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the addition of “Minting Seasons” to our TE Fundamentals program. Starting September 29 until October 13, we open free NFT minting for TE Academy students. Any student who has passed an exam, or will pass an exam by October 13, can directly go to their TE Academy profile and secure their NFT certificate.

Why Minting Seasons?
TE Fundamentals is a free online course with five modules, accessible for anyone, anywhere. As a bachelor-level course, we expect typical students to invest 4 months of studying, at roughly 10 hours/week. Students can start and finish studying any time, at their own pace. While this provides great flexibility, we learned that for completing a course, deadlines are sometimes helpful! Why mint an NFT certificate?
Minting your NFT certificate is a long-term investment in your Web3 career. More and more protocols are leveraging NFTs to establish reputation-based voting, access rights, grant access, and more. TE Academy NFTs are a great way to verify your reputation, showcasing how active you have been in the space, your learning and building success, and your trustworthiness to others.

To complement the NFT Minting Seasons, we’ll offer a new course, “NFT-based Reputation in Web3”. It’s available for anyone with or without a completed TE Fundamentals Module. It will provide a general introduction to NFTs and how to build your Web3 reputation with TE Academy NFTs on Optimism. Finally, two case studies will teach you how to integrate reputation in Web3 incentive mechanisms.

During this upcoming minting season, we’ll host several minting parties, where we’ll support graduates in the minting process, run speed-dating rounds to get to know each other, and celebrate your learning achievements! We invite any TE Fundamentals graduate to join, no matter if you’ve already minted an NFT or plan to mint. If you’ve passed a TE Fundamentals exam, make sure to register for one of the parties below to meet your fellow graduates and the TE Academy team!

What if I can’t complete my course by the end of a minting season?
The upcoming free minting season ends on October 13, 2023. However, for studying, nothing changes: students can complete a course and pass the TE Fundamentals exam at any time. After passing exams, you will be eligible to mint in the next minting season — without any fees. We plan to run the next minting season in early 2024 — stay tuned!
4 Steps to prepare for the free minting season:
1) Complete your TE Fundamentals Module, and take the exam!
Attempts are not limited. Once you’ve passed successfully, you’ll find the respective TE Fundamentals Module with the badge “Mint now” in your profile at tokenengineering.net, in the section “My Courses”. Free minting will be available from September 29.
2) Register your wallet at your TE Academy profile.
