Token’s 2020 release ringform

Cross functional collaboration is at the heart of product development at Token. A lot of companies pride themselves on the ability to work outside of silos, but in Token’s case, it’s a non-negotiable component of our process, and is deeply ingrained in our culture. Here are a few examples of how Product-driven collaboration across various functions of the organization has helped us build a better Token.

Every Token has a tiny LED light on the upper rim that’s used to provide visual feedback to users. This feedback takes the form of intuitive colors and a small set of flash patterns, which indicate things like when a transaction is complete, battery charge, office access permission, and app unlock. The LED is housed inside the shell of the ring, emitting light through a tiny aperture. However, a series of usability reviews put our technical specifications to the test, and unearthed a range of new requirements that ultimately altered the experience of the LED. The light now employs a refined set of colors and animations that resonate with the most diverse populations, including people with color vision deficiencies. This has drastically improved the certainty that a clear message is being communicated from ring to user.

While our usability feedback has been a crucial support for product direction, we’ve also benefited from the direct input of fans, followers and newsletter members. Survey information collected over the past year, some of it as recent as last month, has helped inform decisions ranging from ring color to sizing considerations to feature roadmap prioritization. We appreciate the input from people who have been following the progression of this technology, and we’re moving forward with rock-solid confidence because our your generous sharing.

Token is dedicated to building a ring that combines the best of all worlds. Cutting edge technology, world-class design, and thoughtful contributions from professionals across every function all come together to provide you with an experience unlike any other.
