Airdrop Postponed to October 31st

No easy way to lay it out: we have to postpone the airdrop to October 31st. We have to do so for several reasons:

Funding

There are almost 20,000 of you who signed up for the airdrop, and we appreciate each and every one of you! However, this airdrop is very gas thirsty. We plan to airdrop 10 different tokens hence it is 10 times more expensive than any other airdrop. Gas wise, it’s like airdropping to 200,000 recipients. We’re not even sure there has ever been a precedent for such a huge airdrop. The airdrop is expected to consume around 5B gas, and even if we manage to get it all through with gas price set to as little as 2gwei (We probably won’t, we’ll need to price it higher), it will cost 10ETH (valued at around $3,000 at the time of writing).

So because the airdrop campaign is performing exceptionally well, and we would need 10–30ETH for commencing the airdrop, we need to weigh our options here. 10–30ETH is not a huge amount if you are well financed, but for us this amount is not something we can easily spend without funding. This is the reason we’re going to focus the next 2 months on raising funds.

Product

The Rinkeby airdrop and launch have been super educative for us. For one, we’ve learnt about the airdrop costs etc. Then again, we’ve learnt even more about our product. We’ve fixed bugs, we’ve added features, we’ve learnt to plan for scalability.

Yet, we feel the product is not done yet. At least not ready for launch. We have the exchange facilities in place alright and they work like a charm. But we are missing the Fantsay Sports aspects that we want the product to have and we need some more time to complete their development.

We want you to have a portfolio performance graph, a score, and a leaderboard where you can see how you compare against other members of the community.

We want to be able to throw daily, weekly and monthly trading competitions, and of course to grant token prices to the winners, and we need to develop that ability as well.

All in all

We are extremely proud of the community we’ve gathered around Tokenship, and we’re totally excited about the progress we’ve made. We believe it’s in the best interest of the community to postpone the airdrop so that when the time comes, we have the means to conduct the airdrop well, and that the product you have is top-notch.

While you are waiting patiently for the airdrop, the referral campaign continues to run, and you can still refer friends and be entitled to more tokens until October 10th. After that time, the referral campaign will be put on hold, giving us 3 weeks of preparation for the airdrop.
