Global Brain, one of Japan’s leading venture capital firms, has launched “XLIMIT”, its accelerator program. Applications are open until September 11.

As Ken Kajii, General Partner at Global Brain, explained, out of the approximately 125 investments the firm has made over the past year, 40 percent have been outside of Japan, and is therefore quite global in outlook. Kajii-san himself has joined Global Brain a year ago after a distinguished 17 year international career with McKinsey.

Global Brain manages its own flagship funds, as well as a number of single-LP (Limited Partner) quasi-CVC (Corporate Venture Capital) funds for clients including KDDI, Mitsui Fudosan, and Sony Financial.

XLIMIT is looking for startups at the pre-seed or seed stage aiming to create new markets or innovate existing industries, and resolve social issues. The industry scope is as broad as Deep Tech, Climate Tech, Web3, Metaverse, etc.

The benefits of the program include (unspecified) financial support, access to specialists from the Global Brain ecosystem in Legal, Finance, Tech, Product, Growth, Recruitment, and PR, as well as active venture capitalists. There will also be mentoring sessions with VCs, angel investors, and experienced entrepreneurs. External experts from Globis Capital Partners, The Seed, IDATEN Ventures, Genesia Ventures, among others, have committed to the program.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Application deadline: Sunday, September 11, 2022
  • Selection period: Monday, September 12, to Friday , September 30th
  • XLIMIT program period: mid-October 2022 to mid-January
    2023
  • Demo Day: scheduled to be held in January 2023
